Obtaining this degree,
Master of Science in Health Care Informatics, has been a journey with unique challenges for me both personally and academically. Life does not stop just because I am in school. Additionally, my path to this degree is a bit atypical. I spent years working, raising my sons, being a wife and a mother. During my studies, I found myself struggling to balance my family life and still have time for my academic endeavors. I felt overwhelmed and quite the underdog, with many of my classmates having a more substantial background and foundation in healthcare.
However, now, looking back I feel that I am more confident and prepared than when I was going through my coursework. I am thankful to all the instructors I have had who kept the content interesting, engaging, and relevant. Also, I am grateful to my supportive husband and sons. I feel that I have a proven track record of success in both an individual setting as well as a team player. I take on challenges, am reliable, and have strong values. I want to use my knowledge and experience in a healthcare setting meaningfully.
