Reflection Number 1
The HCIN 540 course, Introduction to Electronic Health Record Interoperability, gave me the foundation for understanding healthcare informatics. At its core, adopting Electronic Health Records (EHR) has allowed for doing away with paper records and utilizing digital platforms for storing patient medical data. This artifact allowed me to understand the benefits of the EHR deeper and, moreover, its interoperability. The research I conducted for writing this paper magnified my understanding of interoperability and associated technologies. Additionally, developing software that helps define patients’ encounters, engagement with healthcare, including, but not limited to, access, sharing, and integration of healthcare data.

Reflection Number 2
Included in the HCIN 540 course, Introduction to Electronic Health Record Interoperability, were self-assessment assignments. The artifact I have attached is about computer usage. Although the format of this exercise was a journal entry, it still adhered to the APA guidelines. Delving into the research and extracting from personal experience, this artifact represents the importance and necessity of computers in our daily lives, as well as in healthcare. Many advances in surgery and exploratory procedures have been made as a result of the use of computers.

Reflection Number 3
The first semester of the Master of Science in Health Care Informatics degree program included two classes. From the first one, I have included two artifacts above. The second course, Introduction to Health Care Delivery Systems, included an assignment to create a business proposal for a healthcare topic that has a significant social or economic impact in the United States. I chose diabetes as my topic, and my business proposal was to open a clinic to prevent and manage diabetes. My artifact is the introduction of this business proposal. It covers introducing diabetes mellitus, its different forms, and why opening a clinic to manage diabetes would be beneficial.
