Reflection Number 1
This white paper artifact provides guidance as to how healthcare organizations can incorporate a work-life balance to reduce staffing shortages. There are many benefits to increasing staffing levels. For example, adequate staffing levels can impact increased patient safety, patient satisfaction, and job satisfaction for healthcare workers. The solutions to the staffing shortage identified in this white paper include flexible hours, the ability to work from home, increased personal time off (PTO), and a more empathetic work environment. These factors mentioned may lead to better healthcare worker satisfaction and less burnout, which will inadvertently lead to greater patient safety and quality patient care. The different components included the literature review, the solution description, the failure mode and effect analysis, and the quality measurement plan, which all helped identify staffing shortage solutions. It also helped me understand that patient safety is the responsibility of the healthcare staff and the healthcare organization as a whole. The program outcome of this white paper is quality and regulatory since it calls attention to the applications of systems to ensure patient safety. This course, ENLC 556, Management of Health Care System Quality Outcomes and Patient Safety, highlighted evaluating patient safety and quality care outcomes through assessing quality indicators. The concept of patient safety was brought to evidence with the publication of the Institute of Medicine (IOM) report, To Err is Human: Building a Safer Health System. This report aimed to draw attention to the medical error-induced mortality rate in hospitals each year.

The third component of the Privacy and Security plan is the Physical Safeguards audit. The artifact that I chose was an assignment in which I was hired as a consultant to assist with conducting audits as part of the security plan for a healthcare organization. Following the case study provided earlier in the course, and assess a risk score matrix. Also, I needed to give an explanation how to fix any physical safeguard deficiencies. The Physical Safeguards audit includes physical access controls, workstation use, workstation security, and device and media controls. policies, training, recovery plans, and workforce management. The assignment included the Security Risk Assessment (SRA) tool, a paper-based document developed by the federal government. This audit is a part of three total audits that should be completed to be in proper HIPAA compliance. The HCIN 544 Advanced Health Care Information Management coursework covered health care privacy and security, yielding quality and regulatory program outcomes.

Another component of the Privacy and Security plan is the Technical Safeguards audit. Technical safeguards include access controls, audit controls, integrity, person or entity authentication, and transmission security. Again, a case study was provided to determine the healthcare organization's circumstances. The 'desk audit' entails a paper-based audit on the Security Risk Assessment (SRA) tool. This audit assures a healthcare entity's quality and regulatory aspects and aligns with said outcomes. HCIN 544, Advanced Health Care Information Management, emphasizes the importance of the privacy and security plan as it is instrumental to complying with the appropriate regulatory bodies in healthcare.
